Very few rappers play instruments. Most musicians couldn't rhyme a sixteen-bar verse if their lives depended on it. An Oakland native, Kev Choice began playing piano at the age of 11 and was quickly recognized as a dedicated and gifted student by his teachers. He continued to develop as a pianist as a youth all while nourishing and practicing his skills as an M.C. and producer. as early as the age of 12, Kev was performing at classical recitals as well as rapping at local shows. Kev Choice went on to obtain a Bachelor's Degree in Music for Xavier University in New Orleans and a Master's Degree in Music from Southern Illinois University/Carbondale. Classically and jazz trained, Kev also possesses an understanding and connection to Hip-Hop, and has the ability to fuse genre's and styles together in a way no other artist presently has. Kev Choice has been called, "the most musical Hip-Hop artist ever", by EastBay Express Magazine and rightfully so. He was also recently featured in Keyboard Magazine as a "rising keyboard hero to watch."
